Hello and welcome back! Have you ever tried to drag a content item from one template to another template, and your screen just isn’t quite big enough? Or your content bin is (by no fault of your own) SUPER full with content, and you can’t quite get from one category (folder) to another category?
This nifty little trick is relatively unknown, but HUGELY beneficial in the situations above. In Content Manager Desktop, you can open multiple network trees, allowing you to drag from one tree to another with ease.
To do this, check out the screenshot below:
See that tiny little horizontal bar above the UP arrow? If you click and drag that bar straight down, you open up a new network tree window. The result looks like this:
To remove the additional window, you can simply click and drag the divider line back up to the menu bar. This will return you back to one network tree window. The same little trick can be used on the template, content, or apps bins at the bottom of the screen.
The one caveat that I should point out is that the timeline view to the right of the network tree doesn’t update when you enter into the multi-view mode. So if you’re looking at content schedules, you’ll probably want to go back to the single view to confirm that the right schedule lines up with the right content item.
Hope this made somebody’s day. When I saw this the first time, I kicked myself for not knowing it sooner. Then I kicked the guy who told me. Until next week!
